Separation of Cryptosporidium species oocysts from feces by using a percoll discontinuous density gradient.
Cryptosporidium oocysts were concentrated by an ether-phosphate-buffered saline sedimentation technique and then separated by density gradient centrifugation. This two-step method yielded highly concentrated oocysts largely free of bacteria and fecal debris.
متن کاملApplication of Percoll density gradient centrifugation for separation of Babesia ovata - infected erythrocytes
In this study, potential of the Percoll density gradient centrifugation method for separation of bovine red bold cells (RBCs) infected with each merozoite type of Babesia ovata was examined. By the Percoll density gradient centrifugation, bovine RBCs infected with active forms of B. ovata merozoites were essentially collected from one of the layers. Moreover, this method made it possible to eli...
متن کاملComparison of the coverslip and the discontinuous Percoll density gradient methods of enucleation of mouse cells.
Two methods of enucleation of LB 10 cells, a subline of mouse L cells, were used: the method of enucleation of cells growing in monolayers, and the newly improved method of enucleation in discontinuous Percoll gradients. The second method was more effective and, as shown by incorporation of 3H-lysine, protein synthesis in cytoplasts was prolonged twice when compared with that in cytoplasts obta...
متن کاملImmature germ cell separation using a modified discontinuous Percoll gradient technique in human semen.
The difficulty of identifying immature germ cells in unstained, fresh semen has led most laboratories to use the broad definition 'round cells' to indicate cells other than spermatozoa, thus grouping together both leukocytes and immature germ cells. This is also the case in research andrology, where very little attention has been given to immature germ cells in the semen apart from some rare ex...
متن کاملSeparation of Hela Cells by Colloidal Silica Density Gradient Centrifugation
Using a colloidal silica density gradient, HeLa cells in mitosis were found to have a density of 1.040-1.046 g/cc, lighter than the remaining interphase cells. The mitotic cells could be harvested and cultured after centrifugation, showing growth synchrony by measurement of a peak in mitotic index 21 hr after establishing the culture. By using Colcemid or vinblastine sulfate, HeLa cells were ar...
